Are Natural Disasters a sign of God's Judgement?- By: Graysome Dukes

Description : People all across the world are wondering if God is mad at them. If He has had enough and is not going to take anymore. I know I wonder why it seems that natural disasters are on the rise. I don't but the silly science of global warming, cooling or whatever their latest label for it is. So what does the Bible have to say about God and natural disasters?

We all know the story in the Bible of Noah and the Ark. How God flooded the earth due to the wickedness of man. Many people believe that God is in the smiting business. That He shows His displeasure with natural disaster and tragedy and I am sure across many pulpits in America today, this message will be preached. However is that the Father's heart of God?

I would like to remind you of the ending of the story of Noah. That God promised not to destroy the world again with a flood. As a sign of that promise He gave us the sign of the rainbow. Has anyone noticed rainbows disappearing yet?

Jesus said that it rains on the just and the injust alike. That means that things happen to people regardless if they are good or bad. That some things in life are just part of the human condition. Do you honestly think that a just God would do something that was unjust? Would He hurt and destroy His people just to punish sinners? That is not the type of God I serve, nor is it the one that Jesus portrayed. God is not vindictive or capricous.

So if these natural disasters are not part of divine retribution, then do they mean something? Are they a sign of something?

You betcha! The bible does predict a rise and increase in natural disasters. It does say that these things mean something. And what is says should wake us up and make us discern the signs of the times.
